Megan was only seven years old when a repeat sexual predator that lived accross the street from her family, kidnapped, violently rapped, and murdered her. It was decided that had her family or other community members had known that a repeated sexual predator was living in their community, this heinous act could've been avoided. With that in mind, the U.S. Congress passed the "Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994", aka Megan's Law, without any objections.
