Megan was merely seven years old when a previously convicted sexual offender that resided accross the street from her family, kidnapped, rapped, and murdered her. It was agreed that had her family or other community members had been aware that a repeated sexual predator was residing in their neighborhood, this assult would've been thwarted. On that train of thought, the U.S. Congress legislated the "Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994", nicknamed Megan's Law, without any opposition.
